Who We Are
Poliakoff Backer was founded by Keith F. Backer, a lawyer with more than 35 years of legal experience in Florida. The law firm was created to provide community associations with the highest quality legal services with a degree of personal attention often difficult to obtain at larger firms.
What We Do
We provide representation in the collection of delinquent accounts, covenant/rule enforcement, drafting and interpretation of governing documents and rules, negotiation of contracts with vendors and contractors and litigation. The firm currently represents communities of all sizes; from condominiums with 12 units to homeowners associations with more than 2000 residences to master association country club communities with more than 3000 residences.

SUPREME COURT RULES ON HOMESTEAD TAX ISSUE Many readers of BackerReport are likely aware that the Florida Constitution governs homestead property (one’s permanent residence) in several distinct ways: protecting it from forced sale by creditors; restricting its alienation and devise; exempting it from certain ad valorem taxes; and imposing a 3% cap on annual assessment increases (through the Save Our Homes amendment).
WILL AI REPLACE MY LAWYER? There has been a lot of press lately about the open-source artificial intelligence (AI) tool known as ChatGPT. ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by San Francisco-based startup OpenAI which was co-founded in 2015 by Elon Musk, Sam Altman and others backed by well-known investors — most notably Microsoft.
